Letter to Robida by Sasha

Dear Robida ~

Some time ago I sent an email reaching out to people and places that I find groovy, asking them to think along with me as I carve out new plans and paths after deciding to leave the bakery. You were among the kind responses, suggesting that I come and spend some time in Topolò. This is something I have often thought about ~ how good it could be to come without the feeling of time being squeezed between responsibilities. Perhaps there would be more room for longer conversations, for participating and for things to unfold.

To a certain extent I’ve spoken with a few of you and confirmed that, yes, I would love to come. The last weeks of the year and at the bakery were intense and so, after some time away and fresh perspectives (hopefully for all of you too), it’s high time for a sign from me!

I don’t have a big project or fixed plan for the coming year but look forward to moments of reflection, space and learning. I’m thinking of wood, text, diarietto, moving and working outside. There are some specific, personal projects that I would like to work on while in Topolò such as a small publication about the bakery and a big computer clean up, but mostly I look forward to being open to what comes. Elena B. mentioned a culinary residency in the summertime ~ perhaps this is something I could think along with too.

I wonder where you are at the moment, what is in your thoughts regarding Robida / Topolò this coming year and whether you still feel that it fits to have me around for some time. If so, my idea would be to come from around March 16th and to stay, perhaps with some breaks in between, for 4-6 weeks, something like that.

I know that winter is a quiet and delicate time and I wouldn't want to take your kind of hospitality for granted. If you wish we could have a call one of these days.

For now sending warm wishes from a cosy desk in Amsterdam.
