Robida is a small independent publisher and collective based in the mountain village of Topolò, on the border between Italy and Slovenia. Since 2014 Robida publishes multilingual books following an ecological and situated approach to publishing questioning how books, whose main goal is to be dispersed, distributed widely and circulating, can at the same time be site-informed, localised, grounded and community-forming.
Since the beginnings Robida publishes a yearly monographic publication, Robida magazine, which hosts works of artists, writers, poets and thinkers, but also prints theory books, recipe books, almanacs, publications in envelopes, and readers.
Emerging from this borderland, where Slavic and Romanic languages meet, and from this specific ecotone, where mediterranean and alpine weather converge, Robida’s publications are shaped by the context where they are edited and published from: publishing rhythms are dictated by the cyclicity of seasons, the design of each publication incorporates graphic traces collected in the woods surrounding the village, and the multilinguism of each publication questions monoculturalism and fixed identities, following to the inherent cross-pollination of languages and multivocality of borderlands.
