Lijuan Klassen is a cultural researcher and cat lover. She is currently a doctoral researcher at the Rachel Carson Center and the Munich Science Communication Lab (MSCL). Her dissertation analyses the subject of planetary health from an environmental humanities perspective. Drawing on critical theory, political ecology and philosophy, her research explores how current and historical representations of planetary health have shaped public and scientific understanding of the concept. She is interested in facilitating spaces for collective thinking and collaborative work. Prior to working in the Dutch cultural sector and at Gropius Bau in Berlin, she completed a Research Master's degree in Cultural Analysis at the University of Amsterdam, where she examined the material-semiotic histories and multi-species entanglements of 'camouflage’.
